Students!

These kids on #channel4 are ridiculous. If the system has screwed you over why just accept it and go ah well. Where are the students of berlin 1989 and the like?
We need more passion and fight, i am as guilty as everyone else happy to just get pushed around by universities and 'government'(thats what they like to call it in northern ireland). I am sick of paying a fortune and not being intelectually challenged! I do not just want a degree i want to be shaped, educated and inspired!
Rant over.

  1. I 2nd and 3rd you on this, students and universities have lost their way, locked into a cycle of student retention figures, catering to the lowest common denominator and students feeling that their tuition fees buy their degrees.

Students choose to attend university and buy into (emotionally, contractually and financially) what the university stands for and delivers. F*ck '86, where is our Paris or '69, we are left with both students and academics phoning it in and supporting a system with no integrity.

The problem comes from a miss match of student expectations and academics allusion of hr

I have already read Cimota's article its interesting but its near impossible to get things going with a student body of people who do not care or are not there, thank you university of ulster coleraine and everyones desire to 'head home'. Student culture.....I WISH. I am the chairman of the film society and trying my best to get some form of arts societies going.
I am studying media theory, it interests me thats why I am at university and it means i can study this learn, question and argue my way through a few years of university while on the side I can learn all the practical sides of this industry that I need.
I know why I am university I doubt a lot of my peers do and thats what fry's my head every lecture, seminar and hand in date.
