Facebook - Paper
Well this looks rather nice. A bit more streamline and a lot less blue and white. A seemingly half decent userface for once with lots of nice gimmicks.
50 seconds in there's a rather nice wee use of the gyro in the iphone for the buffalo photo. This is something I was actually developing a few ideas around with exploring education content so its nice to see it being used in a practical and engaging way. For once I have to say, well done facebook.
The app will be available in the US 3rd February and you can see more here https://www.facebook.com/paper

Oscar Wilde's grave Through the viewfinder
When I was in Paris in 2011 I went to pay my respects to fellow old Portoran Oscar Wilde. After coming up out of the metro you appear as if in another world full of large crypts and elaborate gravestones. It really is a beautiful thing in cities right across Europe. These gorgeous and peaceful graveyards full of past great people. Well worth a day trip if you find yourself with a spare day in Paris.

Bill Murray films on Netflix UK
So after watching Broken Flowers last night on Netflix UK I wondered to myself, what other Bill Murray films are on Netflix. I couldn't find a list via my tv netflix app so I made a list in no particular order.
Ghostbusters
Scrooged
Rushmore
The Life aquatic with Steve Zissou
What about Bob?
Broken Flowers
Zombieland
Get low
Larger Than Life
Where the Buffalo Roam
Meatballs
Charlie's Angels
Have I missed any? Post a comment.

Coffee for this week
Picked up 1kg of beans from the Byres rd Tinderbox, one of the best coffee spots in Glasgow's west end. Open till 11pm with great staff and incredible tarts.
Literally can't take a photo without this wee fella getting in the way. Loves the smell of coffee.

Everything's turned up just past '11'. Smoky flavours verging on tobacco.

Damon Albarn - Everyday Robots (Official Video)
"The video for lead single and title track 'Everyday Robots' is directed by artist and designer Aitor Throup and uses CGI software and actual cranial scans to create a unique digital portrait of Damon."
Looks pretty awesome and a rather catchy tune.

Faces I see in my coffee: Part 2
Archive photography : McNeill's Saloon, Larne
I so often flick through archives of glorious photographs from the William Lawrence collection. Just look at this, imagine a tracking shot going straight up to a close up of that man in the middle. So many little stories in one image. This one more than likely taken by Robert French. A man who selfied his way across Ireland.

The start of the year means one thing...
A showreel of what I have been directing, filming and editing over the past 12 months. Always late, never never.

New lens set up for Christmas
So managed to acquire a new lens, Soligor 200mm f4.5 and via a doubler and some adaptor it's 400mm and on my 550d. What a beast!!
It even has a de-clicked manual aperture ring on the lens. Tempted to get the rest done, would be great for video.
So this is a 550d with a eos mount to Y/CX mount adaptor, then a Tokina doubler for Y/CX mount, then a Y/CX mount to M42 screw thread mount with a Soligor 200mm lens which has said M42 mount.
