Best $1 you will spend.

I have been playing this song a lot since seeing Sufjan. I do not even feel the track is done justice without Sufjan's dancing skills and and the visual supplied by Deborah Johnson. This is still an amazing track and well worth the cheeky $1. Or even get it and the whole Age of Adz album for $8. Steal.
Have to admit I am a bit of a stat screw-er as I am indeed the mp3 generation yet I have never bought an mp3. It just feels so dirty, give me the cd/vinyl and some art work. I like the whole package not just the digital so I am not really a great advertisement for this but ah well.

A Banksy in Londonderry/Derry/Legenderry

Could it be that the master of wall design and prince of sub-culture could have graced the famous walls of the future city of culture 2013? Maybe, but its more likely Dermot from Moville.

Digital Film-Making (Mike Figgis) 2007 - a book view

I feel I may be running the risk of posting 'views' on most things in my life. I am going to be reading a few books over the next few months. After a skim read rather disappointed in the writing style, rather childish. Will update after a proper read.

Sufjan Stevens, 17th May, Olympia theatre, Dublin

Headed down to see Sufjan. What a great performance. Incredible prop design mixed with gorgeous visual effects and topped off with an incredible band. He played a lot from Age of Adz and talked alot about it too explaining the influence of Royal on the album. If you are in Dublin tomorrow head on down to the olympia for an audiovisual pie of Sufjan.

The Queen visits Ireland

So here we have the queen arriving in Ireland and hold up are those AUG's, as in right out of Call Of Duty. Clearly no multi attachments and could do with an AGOG sight but still pretty sweet. I was thinking more M16's but AUG's do look awesome.

The rumours are true

Last semester I blogged about the ridiculous parking situation at UUC. I received a comment regarding the 911 in the photo that it was getting resprayed. I can confirm it is now looking dashing in a racing red.

A Giant Problem - Designs

Hello all,
May or may not be aware that I am undergoing a small project currently called, A Giant Problem. It is a documentary set on the North Antrim Coast, Northern Ireland. It is the story of a guard who works day and night to protect the causeway from any and every eventuality.
For the posters and art work I asked long term movember friend @helloiain to give me his interpretation of a Giant. This is his beautiful creation.
I will try and keep posts regarding A Giant Problem down to a minimum on here and will use the AGiantProblem tumblr mostly for updates. Feel free to follow that or @agiantproblem if you want to keep up to date on progress.

The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn (2011) film poster

Had a look at the new TinTin posters today and am rather excited about what Jackson and Spielberg may be able to produce together. Really dislike the 3D, hope that is a mistake, like 'The Colour Purple' was.

Think the posters should have stuck to a more traditional TinTin style but perhaps copyright blahedy blah.
At least they have some shadows in the new ones but snowy aint looking too great, his head is the same size as his body. Think TinTin should have been left well alone but meh as if anybody cares, it will make money and that is the only point in cinema right? Money and popcorn.

The word Epic

I often feel in this modern age words get over used or even misused. Epic is one of those words, for example, that was 'epic' pizza, did you see that 'epic' goal or 'epic' winning.
I feel the use of epic in the above book is not just justified it may be just plain neccesary.

Mistake Mistake Mistake.

I spent three years at university geeking it up at nearly every class possible. I then, after having my final exam come across this book in the library. Oh the irony.

The Lonely Island – Turtleneck & Chain

Now that is how you do an album cover. Not a massive fan of the songs as they are crude, childish and anybody can write that stuff but satire is always down in my books. Here is hoping there is a tasty limited edition 12" press.

The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters (2007) - A View

This film is the story of one of the most iconic arcade games in history, Donkey Kong.

It also consists of a lot of young geeks who look like in the 80's they found out that it was possible to grow facial hair.
It then brings us into the mid 00's where these geeks are well still exactly the same, just less hair.
The main story revolves around the bizarre character of Billy Mitchell who is the current Donkey Kong Champion. He set the world record in 1982 and nobody has come anywhere near beating it in the past 20 years.....
Un till a new comer by the name Steve Wiebe bursts onto the scene with a home taped high score breaking game on Donkey Kong in his garage. The Twin Galaxies empire is in uproar at this new gamer coming in and accusations and conspiracies start flying about. The young challenger must come and prove himself on the big world stage.
The live head to head challenge for the Donkey Kong world championship title was set up and the young upstart was ready to rumble family and all but where is the old champion.....

Great documentary and really sucks you into the world of Arcade gaming (I have to admit to have a quick search on ebay). I think they did a great job at capturing both sides of the story but do feel Billy Mitchell certainly comes of the worst for representation but I personally feel that is deserved. Well worth a watch if you like gaming, geeks, barrels, documentary and bitter arcade game rivalries. Also Mark Alpiger (Crystal Castles Champion) is hilarious. Well deserved 5/5 and a watch this film sticker to go with that.
